Course description for Fall 2005

INVESTIGATE Go to Topgo to top

This course serves as a forum to discuss, learn and understand the
ethical challenges our multicultural information society presents to
library and information science professionals. Our response to these
challenges informs our societal, professional, community, and individual
views as well as impacting our professional practice, decision making,
and public policy. Using a lens of cultural competence, we will engage
social justice concerns such as access, human rights, and freedom of
expression centered around aspects of information service provision in
libraries and other settings. The course will introduce prominent
philosophical and pedagogical concepts related to social justice, as
well as researchers and proponents of marginalized groups.
