Activities and Open-ended problems
Develop an outline that frames the major positions for your research question or action project. Rather than a skeleton outline (e.g., with the familiar Roman numerals and capital letters), this is a rough version of the developing project, addressing questions such as:

  • What are the basic issues at stake?

  • What information resources are being used?

  • What are the collaborative resources--people, listservs, conferences, and so on that can aid the project?

  • What arguments are different sides putting forth? What critical areas need further study? What action is needed?

  • Where does the project stand now? What kinds of information or commentary woudl be most helpful?

In other words, the first draft or "outline" contains the elements that go into an inquiry unit.
